Probably off the normal type post but oh well. I have a single cab 01. Not a whole lot of room. I like it just how it is lol. I know with all you country and 4 X 4 boys here that y'all have and carry guns. How do you store/carry/mount your gun in your truck? The gun in question is an AR-15. I'd like to see those and a pistol mount.

Check your state laws before you go carrying a gun in your truck especially an ar-15, seems people associate automatic rifles with terrorists and mass shooting suspects anymore. I know in Ohio it's legal to drive around with your gun mounted in a window gun rack. It has to be unloaded of course but you can have it openly displayed in the window legally. You should be able to do a quick google search and see what your laws are... You don't want to break the law and then have them take your gun away. Even if you weren't in the wrong and its legal they can still act like beeotches and take you gun and make it a pain in the ass to get back.

A year or two ago, somebody had a thread going to address that. I remember seeing a pretty cool rack that mounted at the roof for overhead storage.

But my preference would be this...

I know @sgtsandman added a gun rack to his truck... I think it was in the now MIA "What did you do to your Ranger today" thread.

I've never been one to advertise that I have a gun... even when I do.

^^^^^ I totally agree with that last statement. I'd rather quietly open carry than walk around with a CCW..... Ohio's open carry laws are pretty laid back unlike other states. CCW's seem to get people into more trouble than they should. My boss got treated like a criminal when he was pulled over for something un-related. First thing he told the officer was that he had a CCW in the truck (Like your supposed to by law) and the cop started yelling at him to get out of the truck and had him get out and sit on the ground and told not to move until they cleared the vehicle.... Pretty much treated him like a felon with a gun as opposed to a citizen with a CCW.

Yeah
It can get stupid. When they ask if I am armed , I say of course......I am an American.

Seems to ease things.

I installed this.

The other is just a regular window rack but if I'm going to have a rifle in a rack, I'd rather not have it visible through the windows. It's used for an ice scraper and a small shovel.

I got mine from Cabela’s. They have their own web site as well. The hardest part was trimming the plastics after mounting the rack. It’s made by Big Sky.

I’m only 5’9”, so that helps but I strategically placed the support arms so I don’t. Once in a blue moon if I move just right, I’ll bump it.
