I got my first Ranger a couple of months ago(just under 2 to be exact), and have already put 3 thousand miles on it between work, going out into town and trail riding. I am not new to the Ford scene by any means, this is my 4th ford, and 3rd with the 4.0L engine, so i have a little bit of experience doing minor maintenance on it. Seeing as i eventually want to put a bigger lift and give it some more power i figured i would start doing my research early.

My truck is a 2007 Ranger FX4 Level II, completely Stock, its in great condition with the exception of some trail scars from overhanging branches, and a little bit of damage to the back of the cab from the previous owner. I take it out on the mud trails about every 2 weeks out here for fun. Currently living in North Carolina, even though my profile says Iowa, i will be moving back to my hometown in Iowa in a few months so ill just leave it that way.

I dont know too much about cars and trucks but im learning, as i am helping out with working on my buddies vehicles, if i know what work needs done and can trust myself to do it.

Im sure i missed some stuff but if ya have questions feel free to ask.

well you have about as bad ass a ranger one can start with for wheeling.

you thinking radical killer ifs or some sort of straight axle swap?

power wise i find the 4.0 cammers pretty good, but mpg wise not so much when they get bigger with lift and roll on 35's or so.

alot to balance if its intended to be a daily driver.

Yeah, glad you could make it...enjoy the threads as there is much to read and play with...

As of right now im not sure, ill prob stick with the IFS, but the most ill go with lift is another 2in over what it came with, which im told is stock. and run 33's for tires.

First project on it though is to build a front bumper for it, and leave room for a winch when i eventually get one. i broke the lower front bumper off today trying to get out of a hole.

welcome.
Nice Ranger, love the level II's.

on our trucks (as you know ours were virtually identical at one point)

you need MINIMUM, 3" body lift for 33x12.5, with 33x10.5 you might be able to get away with a 2"

i know i've mangled up my bedsides from flexing it out with the 33's

well i dont do much crawling, and will only really flex it out for the standard "My Ranger can flex on your Jeep too" picture. i think for now before i start doing under the hood bolt on mods, im going to get the body lift and a set of 33's, then its a custom bumper, then the HP addons
