Is your engine the 5.3 or the 6.0? Just wondering. I know the Viper V10 went from 7.9L to 8.4.

yup.....it's the 5.3,just a little guy.

i was just trying to be funny:D

i guess that i could have brought up the fact that the viper's new-age v 10 has pushrods.the jag v12,while designed in the mid 1950s is available only as sohc or dohc.

the saying 'there's no replacement for displacement' is definitely true.i can easilly get more pwer out of an 8 cylinder 460(7.5L)than this v12,but that power will not be as smooth across as wide an rpm range.and, using parts from the ford svo catalog, that 460 can be punched to over 800 cubes.

i'm still pretty happy with my little 5.3.

I think gwaii has gotten lazy. He's just repeating himself at this point.

sometimes, when you've already said something and the question is asked again,to not repeat yourself would mean changing you story.

just trying to maintain consistency:icon_thumby:

wait, so your v12 is a 5.3?

yup.5.3L,sohc,aluminum block and heads, deep skirt block with cross bolted mains, forged crank and pistons, side oiler and wedge chambers.

typical 1950's tech.

the 6.0 dohc would have been nice, but that's not what i was given.plus,it would be even harder to fit with those big heads.

stock engine for the gt6 was a 2.0L inline 6.iron block,pushrod motor.

whoa whoa whoa......where is this SVO catalog you speak of!? how do i get one or is there an online version?

i got mine from the parts counter at the ford dealer.lots of goodies in there.bring your wallet.

one thing though, for the 800 cube engine they have a tall-deck aluminum block, and only two intakes that fit it....tunnel ram dual quad and blower.

how much was the catalog? im not intersted in having 800 cubes lol, just wanna see what kind of SVO goodies they got for the 460.

i think it was around $20....but that was a few years ago.i'm not sure where it got to at the moment, but i think it was the 2003 catalog last time i got one.i'm assuming they are still putting them out.

i already found it lol. i was drooling over lots of the parts in there :icon_bounceblue:

ya,that's why i said bring your wallet.if i were rich i'd be going on a shopping spree.of course,after that i'd no longer be rich.:D

So.... any chance you got to look at my fiberglass question?

how would you get the glass to take the shape? This is where i am lost. How do i keep the mat from drooping, or falling down?

sorry-i missed that one.

in this case the hole is only about an inch across,so the matt woud bridge it easilly.the face of the panel would need to be ground so the thickness tapers from full thickness to zero at the hole's edge over about 2'',so you'll have a patch about 5'' in diameter.if it's a bigger hole you can put something in behind it,like a piece of cardboard or urethane foam to form a backing.this only needs to support the glass while it sets, after that it could be removed or left.
if this panel weren't a double layer with foam core i would work from the backside...as it is,it's like most of the boat hulls i deal with and needs to be dealt with from the outside.

where can i get that urethane foam? How do i shape the foam?
