Gt-12

Would they be worth having if not fueled with vodka?

here's another reason i love my little cutoff bandsaw.when dealing with awkward 24' lengths of metal,i can take it off it's stand and set it right where i need to do the cut.it gives a clean, accurate cut that i don't need to do any more prep on,and while it's cutting i can be doing something else.today, that something else was weleing up a custom driveshaft for another person's custom truck.

Nice 2-4 Cobra breather lid hanging on the wall there Doc.....

ya,i got that out of the back of a scrap car.....it was a mess, but cleaned up pretty good.

it's a real one,too.

Is that 2x4 tubing?? Looks like it's only 1/8 thick....How thick is it and what size are you building the trailer??

yup....2x4x.120 hss.that's plenty for the frame of the trailer i'm building.

it's actually the same stuff that the frame of my car trailer is made from, and that's bigger and has taken a beating over the last 20 years or so.

this trailer's deck will be 15'x6',single axle-enclosed,insulated,and heated.

here's my hi-tech metal carrier.2x4 lumber and 3'' screws,it kept everything in place till i got home, but you could really feel the 800lbs sitting up that high.the sheet metal went in the box.

haha!!! i seen this drive by the other day and was like WTF?!?! didnt even clue in it was you!!

gwaii i came up with something today that remind me alot of you. i was workin on makin a bumper for my truck and i was tired of using the grind i wanted to try somethin else. so i took out the blade on the table saw and put in a 9" metal cutting blade. it works awesome
i thought it was pretty awesome if i do say so myself :D

ya,it works well.i used to do that in the industry all the time.just keep in mind it's really hard on the saw-they are designed to put up with sawdust from wood, not so much metal and grinder dust.

A good dust collection system should help with that, and correct me if I'm wrong but using an oil would probably cause the metal to clump and make it even harder on the system, right? Or would it be worth it for added cooling and not a big deal for the internals?

this is true, but oh well, once it breaks it breaks lol

i use oil on aluminum, and cut it with wood cutting blades, but on steel you would be creating a fire hazard.this is also where a dust collector would be a problem-the stream of sparks coming off that blade carry a huge amount of heat that most dust collectors are not designed to handle.

i'm assuming that by metal cutting blade he's referring to a carborundum grinder-type blade.the carbide tipped metal cutting blades are very dangerous at the speed woodcutting equipment turns at.
