I need to go to the dentist

Sent from somewhere naughty!

Demist. British version of defrost I'm sure.

Ford uses the term demist in the US. I was looking at diagrams trying to figure out why my air box wouldn't come off the dash and found that some gen 1 RBVs had demister tubes/nozzles on them.

FWIW, airbox wouldn't come out because I never unhooked the heater core. :icon_thumby:

what's the redlight on the tach? It looks like its labeled dentist... You have a dentist warning light? Tells you when you have a cavity?!? Sweet!

that's to indicate the rear window defroster is on...you know, the kind with the resistor strips across the glass.that and the turn indicator still need to have bulbs installed-in the original version they had tunnels that went from the back of the tach to the face for the light to reach the lens, those won't clear the circiut board so i'll just put led's in the face behind the lenses.

So do you put a diode in both turn signal wires so you can use the same light for the indicator?

the indicator takes it's power after the flasher but before the selector switch,so i works for both sides.this is built into the stock turn signal switch.

IF you don't have a rear defroster or "demister" then change the red for green, and make it the right turn signal light.

nah....the demist will be operational.
with how damp it always is here it's kinda needed, and i want all the original interior stuff to work as original.my plan is that outside of the lack of a clutch pedal, the interior controls will be familliar to any owner of a stock gt6.

call me nuts,you won't be the first:D

I wouldn't call you nuts, I know what you mean when it comes to wanting to keep things looking original, that is one reason it took me 3 months to find a factory radio for my 89 BII.

maybe you won't call me nuts, but some do and i usually tend to agree with them.

all part of the fun:icon_thumby:

(btw....this spring i'll have a new batch of people around here calling me crazy-i'm going to add a third 200 to my grady for a few runs with 24p props.should be good for close to 90mph.)

OK, your nuts.

I've noticed that I always seem to find projects in the house that need doing after I read progress on this thread.

My workbench isn't gonna be clean for weeks at this rate!

sometimes i find cleaning the workbench to be a project in itself.with so many different things going on at once,it just becomes a junk collector...no room for 'work' anymore.

My roomate's computer desk has become an extension of my workbench lately.

I started a small paracord side-business a few weeks ago now there's bits of cord and packaging everywhere. The last one I made it almost took me longer to find a pen to label it than it took me to make the damn thing.

I can only imagine the mess involved with all your projects.

you MUST post pics of this... i'm sure i've seen pics of the dual engine setup somewhere on here...

actually, interesting project i am working on, you might think is cool... my dad works as a consultant for some technical company that works on environmental chambers, refrigeration units, incubators and ultra deep freezers... dual stage freezers are a common thing they work on, these are freezers that go down to about -80* celcius, some even colder... often used for storing evidence for police labs, biological samples, walt disney...

fixing the refrigeration unit requires removal of the refrigerant (freon) and when work is completed, removing all of the air from the system, before recharging it, this is done by placing a vacuum pump on the system, the pumps themselves need repair and rebuilding quite often, so we are in the process of rebuilding two of them, on contract. the first wasn't broken, just had a bad noise, which ended up being a bent fan shroud, fixed in 10 minutes, but when we tested the unit, we hooked it up to a meter to read the vac, the unit used is militorr, the unit we tested yesterday, got to a reading of about 63 militorr, a good one can get below 1 militorr...

keep in mind atmospheric pressure is about 14.7 PSI, the pump i was testing yesterday was around 0.001 PSI when we shut it off, and we are fairly confident we could get it lower if it stayed running an hour or so
