Continuing my rant about long lived parts and the recent trend of "part 2" threads...

Something just ain't right when a hack saw becomes a "proper tool" for replacing power steering lines.

Also, while I recognized that it's loc-tited in place, I should not need a 1/2" ratchet to remove one of the lower fittings.

At least you didn't need the chainsaw or the hot wrench. :icon_welder:

Chainsaw didn't fit. Hot wrench would have been highly ill-advised given the flammability of the fluid in those lines.

There may come a day when I truly want to set my truck ablaze (several have come and gone but I had no fall-back vehicle) but that was not today.

I take it your Dremel was MIA too? As was your 500-lb gorillia for "leverage?

I didn't feel like running the 20 foot HD extension cord out to the parking lot, and my 500 LB "leverage" doesn't fit any better than the chain saw.

i have had to use a 4 foot cheater bar on a wrench on a bolt before. and to add to that, i had to dangle my 155lb body weight from the cheater bar and bounce to get it to break loose. one sore butt later i had the bolt loose.

so saw-zaw for getting a powersteering line loose...sounds par for the course. it will just give you another victory story to tell about the old truck

I hae a 2.5 ft PVC cheater that I love. I used to use a 4" jack handle for that, it was also pretty BAMF.

However I do not consider needing a cheater for anything that LIVES in ATF par for the course.

I love Air tools, so a hacksaw goes from "proper" to a fall back :)

I love my air tools too. I miss them a lot. Can't wait until I get a job and can have them back.

That reminds me of the first time I used an impact. I was trying to replace the front seal in my '67 MGB diff. I think it was like 1 1/4" nut. set parking brake, 3' extension 2 hours - nada. Buddy says "Let's try my impact." 30 seconds later, nut off.:annoyed:
