Hi all. Some time back I posted a thread regarding some growling that I would hear when turning. I have been back and forth on this little ride, looking, listening, replacing....and nothing seemed to help. Only thing I knew for sure was, it was less noisy first thing in the morning. Well, I found it. It is the right rear axle shaft. It has some pits where the bearing rolls on it. I never thought about it because I replaced it with in the last 5 or so years. Must be a lousy replacement. I will try again.

I would check all the bearings the other side and the pinion for any slop and change the gear oil to see if there are any shavings in there while you got it in the air.

I pulled both axles. Only the after market one had pits. I couldn't get a good look at the bearing as there was still a lot of oil blocking my view. The oil was clear that drained out, just the usual metal "dust" in the bottom. I slammed it back together until I get my Tranny/Transfer case issue done. That problem is posted under "Bad Sounds" in the Transmission and the 2.8 forum.
