Hey all,
Growling noise underneath which increases as speed increases, and doesn't go away if I give or let off the gas. I checked the drive shaft, and there is a little play in the U-joints. Also when I twist the shaft, there is some play in the t-case and differential yokes. Is that normal? What are the other possible causes of the growling? I recently changed the wheel bearings, thinking that was the problem. No luck.
Suggestions? Thanks
Jason

The drive shaft u-joints I suppose are a possibility.

Differential comes to mind as well.

I assume this is a new issue that isn't associated with new tires getting put on, I have heard some pretty loud tires.

Tires are older. It is a manual tranny, but the loudness is constant in all gears. I'm going to crawl underneath tomorrow to check the fluids in tranny, T.C., and differentials. I changed the bearings in the rear end about a year ago, so I don't think that's it. Let y'all know tomorrow. Thanks for the advice guys!

If you feel a vibration too then I would change those u joints. I would change them anyways because there should be no play in the joints whatsoever
