I'm supposed to leave for a few hundred mile trip in the next few hours to fix thi 95 Toyota 4 runner. That's why I posted this here.
Its a 5 speed 4x4. Friend says he replaced the cv but it still grinds. But only in 2wd. If he puts it in 4 hi it only does it when he shifts. It has auto hubs. I assume this is because in 4wd there is enough tension on the sloppy wheel bearings.
I assume that the problem is the wheel bearings. Which these kind have to be pressed on/off the spindle. And he drove it this way for awhile so I'm assuming the spindle is messed up too.
Any insight?
