Hello, everyone! I am 1984Ranger, and as you can tell by the title of this thread, I am from Alaska. I joined this site because I was recently given a 1984 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4, which was in less than running condition.

After a couple of days, a friend and I (With no mechanical experience) got her running strongly. Oh, man, that made us feel great. She still needs some work done (and I will need the help of this site. Haha.), but for now, I figured I'd introduce myself.

Once again, Hello everyone.

I'm new here tonight myself - from the home of the Blues down here in Memphis TENnessee
(as they pronounce it locally)

~Been a long time since I had absolute ZERO rep anywhere, this should be interesting.

Hey Welcome to the site. Tons of great info on here and bunch of nice rides to get ideas from. Buddy of mine on here is stationed in Alaska, hit him up AlaskaBII if you have questions or need a good place to find parts up there.

YO "SPOOKY" Chief -

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE BROTHER!

You guys are quick! Went out to snap a couple pics of "Ol' Blue" (Hahaha), and there were two replies already.

Thanks to the both of you, and Steeda, Will do.

BOOGIE ON Brother - we got us some trux ta build!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :icon_bounceblue:

By the way - I envy you for your glass replaceable headlights. I hate the plastic onezzz

Haha. Gotta get bulbs and replacement glass for it, though. Then I'll have to hook them up. Whoever had the truck before me was WAY more clueless than I am. Haha

What are you driving?

NOTHING

~That's why I'm here now -

I ran a 2.3 for a long time, but I was planning a V8 truck long ago and scavenged all kinds of stuff already.

Including both a 351W and a 351M (got the M for helping an acdu guy get an '82 Bronco together in time to change station. It was the leftover engine from a complete crate engine swap)

When the 2.3 died not long ago - I finally decided that IF I DON'T DO IT RIGHT NOW.....

The truck of my dreams just might escape me.

SO NOW! RIGHT NOW!

This is where I belong

Honestly...

And for all I know all that sucker needs is a new fuel pressure regulator. I don't care

I don't want to die thinking:
"I COULD'A HAD A V8!"

Hahaha! Nice. I doubt there will be anything, but if I can do something, lemme know. I am completely clueless mechanically, but who knows? I might be able to bring something to the table.

I want to find a V8 engine for my Ranger, too. Not sure what kind of ANYTHING I am looking for (I am better with computers and electronics than vehicles), but I figure that with this site, and the help of the people on it, I can make my little Ranger the truck of my dreams, too! Haha.

There IS a lot to do with my truck, though... I've only been able to do a couple of things lately, like install seatbelts, only to find that my floorboards are rusting out, and that the dashboard wont light up, and that the guy that owned it before me had no idea what he was doing.

I pulled out the dashboard, and he had snipped a couple random wires and hooked those KC lights to it.
