I had the ol' WD-45 out to move some stuff around during a warm snap and thought I would take some pictures. It is still all scummy from sitting all winter in a dirt floor shed, but still looked pretty decent for the camara.

A little panaramic action:

The infamous "Snap-Coupler" hitch, A-C's way of getting around Ferguson's 3-point patent... and some would argue it is a superior design. They had a clever draft control system that let this little smaller than a Farmall H sized tractor run circles around a Farmall M. The clevis' are there so I have a way to strap it on a trailer when I have the plow on it.

I made this one look antiquish, looks straight out of the 50's when my great grandfather brought it home.

A close to original steering wheel knob, dunno if it has been on since day one but it has to be close. New wooden ones are lucky to last a couple years. I am not really sure what to do with this one, I hate to have it fall apart on the tractor but it really looses its value if it isn't on there I think. A fairly good closeup if I do say so myself.

Kind of neat, I was playing with the settings trying to get it to come out good in the sun and stumbled apoun whatever setting the old color camaras operated at. A lot of the outdoor photos from the 60's/70's you see are bleached out like this:

As you can tell it is just a working tractor with a rattle can paint job and a set of decals, I would like to do a full blown restoration on it but funds and time are lacking for all of my projects at once. It runs like a top and is halfway presentable, so on the backburner it sits.

I hear you there. Our 8N could use some rust repair on the front cowling, but for now it functions just fine.

Wow, that reminds me of my grandfathers tractor when I was a kid, it looked almost identical to that one!

That brings back a lot of good memories!

Cool tractor, I like it just the way it is!! :icon_thumby:

It has a lot of stuff on the hood that didn't show up in the pictures... usually I clean it up pretty good before I take it to a show.

8N's are a pretty handy little tractor to have around, my uncle has one to move snow around with.

A-C's styling department wasn't very original from the mid 40's up to '57, the late WC, WD and WD-45 all look pretty much the same. The WC has a very different rear axle, wheels and transmission, but otherwise from a distance they are all hard to tell apart, so you grandfather could have had any three of them and they would all look very similar.

My great-grandfather had a fleet of these things, 2 WD's and two WD-45's, his sons got a WD and the two WD-45's and his grandson (my uncle) got the other WD. My grandfather got this one from him when he first started farming, and stayed with A-C until he sold out in the 80's, he still has a D-17 around for odd jobs.

Thanks for the compliments!
