While at Menard's for a shovel I got 3 of those 70# tube sand bags to toss in my bed. got it right against the wheel wells. I still spin out with too much gas pressure, but I do notice less fishtailing. 3 bags is 210#'s that should be enough, right?

Should be plenty. Scoot them up against the front of the bed though, running front-to-back. You want the weight near the center of momentum to help avoid spin-outs if the rear tires should break loose.

We got this bullshit worse than you guys did, stupid Lake Effect.

We got 14-18 in RFD depending on where you were, had almost 5-foot drifts in my driveway/yard. How much did you get?

15, I thought it was more, said were were supposed to get 20+. BTW, I'm from out that way (Beloit) :lame:

Better get some helper springs too...

I kinda liked Beloit the couple times I went thru there.

i use 600-700lbs and i can't even get the tires spinning on pure ice in first gear. really works awesome for those steep hills

I got my sand bags about a month ago and I drive a 4x4, I buy 3 tube sands every year and position them in the bed of my truck, below is a pic I took of my sand bags a few weeks ago, I have been using this exact method for 6 years now and it works best for me.

I've got about 450# in my one wheel wonder and seems to work pretty good. Haven't had to try the deep stuff. Lived down that way, 30 in Rockford and 8 just outside of Beloit. Year after I moved they built the sewage treatment plkant right across the road, good timing.

I was just wonder about the member who said to put all the sand bags plus a couple more in the center up against the cab...wouldn't that put more weight on all 4 wheels causing a 2wd to steer better in snow & causing a 4wd to get better traction on all 4 wheels rather than putting the weight directly over the back axle which would cause the front end to be a little "lighter"?

Just wondering.......

Right before our snow storm hit here in Oklahoma, I bought 5x 60lbs sand tubes (300lbs total). I placed all 5x parallel with the length of the truck, next against the tailgate. Then mother nature released her fury upon us and dumped around 1,000lbs of snow in the bed of my truck. Now my Ranger's rear end is heavier than the front. And she feels fat, hardly takes off the line now, but can still spin the tires with the right amount of pedal pushing.
