Ok guys, i am kinda new around here an i have some questions.I am picking up a 86 reg cab 4x4, sitting on a full james duff suspension. the kicker is the motor is trash. its the 2.9 efi with a 5 speed. i dont want to use the under rated trans. i am swapping in a the 5.0l ho i have on the stand. and want to use the np435 dana20 combo i have from a early bronco. i know that i need to change the bell housing to a hydro set up from a f150. thing is i cant find what year works with all stock ford parts. I have searched up and down. The bell housing i have now is the old rod style system, an i do not want to run that one. so any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks :icon_thumby:

so please correct me if im wrong. a bellhousing from just about any year after 80 will fit as long as it was a inline 6 or a small block. with the hydro system. as for the swap goes i know i have to rework the heater box, drill new holes for the conv. motor mounts. an a few other things. i have a radiator from a 92 ranger that had the 4.0. in it. i know it will be under rated for the 5.0l. but it will have to do for now. so as im reading more and more into this i may need to address the lift springs bc of the weight of the v8. but then again it doesnt have almost 200lbs of iron heads on it either. got a set of gt40x heads on it. so it should weigh right around what the v6 did. im hoping anyways. so anyone want to fill me in as to what kinda traction in going to be looking at with 400hp hitting the ground. it has james duff rear traction bars and lift springs. looking into doing a 4 link. to match the travel the front has. but more worried about getting it running before next month. i have all my parts already, just looking for insite from those that have done this swap. thanks guys.:icon_bounceblue:
