Has anyone tried surge engineering stage 3 chip o2 combo? They say its adjustable and works at all throttle levels to enrich a/f mixture to desire for stock or mods on any efi system. Supposed to fool the computer and lie about the actual o2 readings. Sounds good anyhow. Finally got my spacers fabricated today for my plenum to intake mod. Havent installed yet but I will let you know. When I reset the gap on plugs the other day I noticed a different sound from the exaust. It didnt have the bass like before. I badly guessed at the gap the first time and most were set to .55 or 60. After resetting to 48 the sound was deffinitely more subdued. I think if I can get some more fuel to this engine then I will get a hotter coil and set them back to .60 Can anyone tell me where to get an inexpensive fuel pressure regulator that is adjustable and also fit,or be fabricated to fit? I only need it to go up to 45 psi max. Yall know I dont like to spend money on this stuff. I might buy that surge kit for 299.00 since I have done most of these mods without spending much dough. I would like to adjust pressure ever so slightly from 32 to maybe 40 at idle. I am going to try to increase flow first from 5/16 to 3/8 fuel line. Is hydraulic hose strong enough? I got some laying around and the quick disconnects will accept up to 3/8 hose anyhow. Any suggestions yawl? Im not trying to build drag Ranger just get the most out without spending a fortune so I can prove that it can be done. I will save the 5.0 swap for my 74 pinto. Salute

Oh chris.. Higher fuel pressure will mean more fuel at every squirt.. Which in turn will make a richer mixture than the computer is expecting.. With a richer mixture the gap in the plugs can be REDUCED! A hotter coil is unwarrented with with a richer mixture or any other addition to that engine... You already have more fuel flow than you can use..why put larger hoses if you can't use what you already have?
The reason for higher pressure is the TIME it takes to get the proper amount of fuel into the chamber.. The MORE rpm the engine turns the shorter TIME the fuel system has to insert the needed fuel amount..
As for the plug gap... The smaller the gap and the engine still runs correctly the easier it is on your coil system.. Wider gaps ONLY allow for firing the mixture at a LEAN condition..wider gaps do NOTHING ELSE to the performance of the engine.. If you do increase the fuel pressure you may be able to close the plug gap back to .032...
Hotter coils only help at rpm higher than the engine is designed for.. You will need another intake, exhaust, cam and other engine modifications to need or use a hotter coil..

what mod is this that you refer to Christopher.

hotter coils fire a denser charge at same gap, has to do with dielectric breakdown of the surrounding atmosphere. necessary if adding more than normal air/fuel mix

What advertisement did you get that piece of information from?

Coils build up pressure until enough is reached to jump the gap..period!

Unless the engine is running faster and under more compression than normal engines the stock coil jumps the gap at the same voltage and time as ANY hotter coil. A hotter coil is only useful in engines that have been modified to run at rpm's much higher than our little guys will run..

If a guy thinks a red or yellow coilpac will LOOK GOOD under his hood..then fine getcha one.. But KNOW THIS your engine won't have a clue it is in there fire'n the plugs!!

all that being said..and i won't disagree with any of it...
I will answer the FPR question...a Kirban adjustable for Buick GN's can be made to fit fairly easily ..though it depends on your definition of cheap.

Awe Right!!!

Is Dielectric the diffrence between a cigrette lighter and a lightnin bolt? Gonna have to get me some for the 2.9!! Put ir in thar an Git ir Dun!!!
