Got caught cheating...

no not yet throwing around the idea of a cj dash but haven't settled yet. ill get a side boob shot tomorrow.

The marque has gone through many owners, starting with Willys, which produced the first Civilian Jeep (CJ) in 1945 and who were the first granted the trademark in 1950. Willys was sold to Kaiser Motors in 1953, which became Kaiser-Jeep in 1963. American Motors (AMC) purchased Kaiser's money-losing Jeep operations in 1970. The utility vehicles complemented AMC's passenger car business by sharing components, achieving volume efficiencies, as well as capitalizing on Jeep's international and government markets.

The French automaker Renault began investing in AMC in 1979. However, by 1987, the automobile markets had changed and even Renault itself was experiencing financial troubles. At the same time, Chrysler Corporation wanted to capture the Jeep brand, as well as other assets of AMC. Chrysler bought out AMC in 1987, shortly after the Jeep CJ-7 was replaced with the AMC-designed Jeep Wrangler or YJ. Chrysler merged with Daimler-Benz in 1998 to form DaimlerChrysler. DaimlerChrysler eventually sold most of their interest in Chrysler to a private equity company in 2007. Chrysler and the Jeep division now operate under the name Chrysler Group LLC.

Funny side note, when I went to pep boys to get wiper blades for my mom's 2006 Grand Cherokee their little "wiper blade finder" computer had the Grand Cherokee listed under "AMC Truck"

Bantom designed the Jeep for the US military, but the military decided they couldn't produce it in the numbers they need it so they subbed it out to Willys, and later Ford when the war got underway.

The original grille was a complicated welded assembly, the typical stamped "Jeep Grille" with vertical slots that they now use so proudly was actually a Ford idea to speed up assembly. Ford screamed bloody murder after the war thinking they deserved to continue building the car after the war thanks to their contributions to the design... so Willys changed the number of slots from 9 to 7. Just as well, it seems to be a cursed brand that has brought ruin to whatever company has owned it... although not from a bad product.

Come to think of it, I actually HAD one of those as a kid!!! If I recall, it was white with alloy-look wheels, and racing decals on it!

Mine is a reddish brown with a yellow rollbar and AR Outlaw II wheels.

nice find, nothing wrong with a jeep, now all you have to do is replace all the jeep stuff so you can have a reliable ride:icon_thumby:

Yeah apparently so do mini cooper owners.

And honda owners just glare at you thinking, my v-tec is stronger than your v-tec or some crap like that.

And you don't see other scout owners driving around... and when you do, they looks just as surprised as you do.

And no one gives a care that you drive a ranger :icon_rofl:

Seriously, why don't we wave to other ranger owners?

:icon_rofl::icon_rofl::icon_rofl: thats hilarious!!! (and pretty dead on, from where im at)

ah thanks for the good laugh!!
