got a truck offered to sell to me. should i buy?

if it has the 6.2 then its atleast 3/4 ton, if it isnt rotted to piss like chevys like to, i had a 83 k20 suburban with the 6.2, thing was a tank, got 17.5mpg approx with a 4" lift and 38.5 hawgs, it may have the factory lockers in it, may not depending if its a heavy 3/4 or 1 ton or just run of the mill 3/4. the engine is dead ass reliable, i never had any problems starting even in the coldest of winters for offroad recoveries, pretty much anything up to a duece i could pull out, its a torquey som bitch

id go for it, i managed to get my burban for 500 with the locked rear, i locked the front

most of the 6.2's around here are 1/2 tons...and allot of vans.

1 tons are rare.....but 3/4 are pretty common.

It might be a neat super truck. It is a gamble to get one with a disel engine...it could cost a pretty penny to get repaired...so be prepaired for some cash outgoing when you don't expect it. If you can have someone you know look it over...that would be the best thing to do.

il be calling to see if i can go look at it sometime this week.

Hey guys update!! The truck is a heavy duty 1/2 ton single cab long bed with running boards sunviser grill gaurd and power windows and locks. The transmission was rebuilt as well as t case new batterys starter water pump and injection pump tuned up the paints new with little rust

Buy it and take off the running boards, possibly the visor too. I don't care for those wind catchers.

It must be an automatic tranny, (esp. since you said it was rebuilt :icon_rofl:) too bad. But I would probably buy it anyway.

Dude, it's $750!

Buy it.

For the price you really can't beat it. I don't know about the 6.2, but the 6.5 is a pretty good engine, even if they love to burn oil (this could just be due to the infrequency of oil changes in our 6.5s, seems they don't drain the oil until they die). They make reasonable torque, enough to move 6 tons every day, sun or snow, driven hard or gentle.

The one thing I hate about them is the 4 speed automatic most of them are attached to (hydramatic I think), they seem to last half as long as the engine. When freshly rebuilt they shift fine, but you'll know when they're going out from the way it shifts.
