hi my name is greg and ive been on here looking how everybody is doing custom maf senser adapters for a k&n filter but what i have not seen was what happens to those two little vacuum lines that go in to the back of that box any insight on this wouold be gratly appreacited and again thanks

those lines are for running the intake preheater blend door. since it gets eliminated when running an exposed K&N filter element, the hoses can be eliminated as well by capping at the source.

ok thanks so do i just find some sort of cap or something to block those off do u have any ideas for that and what is the preheater blend door what does it do? thanks for any anwsers u have

also i forgot ask ya would i get alot of hoursepower out of doing this and if so how much do u think i will get? thanks again

No you won't get a lot of HP by doing it. Maybe 5HP if you are lucky. It will sound like more though.

you need a vacuum cap that fits the line...any auto parts store can hook you up. there is only one line that needs capped, and its the one that goes to the intake manifold vacuum tree. the other line is connected to the filter box on one end, and the preheater blender on the other...you'll be removing both of these.

you arent going to gain ANY horsepower by doing this. in fact, your likely to loose a small amount due to the exposed filter element sucking in warm engine compartment air (your stock intake is a true cold air intake).

oh ok thanks alot on all this ya really got me thinking see i thought i would get more horsepower than that so maybe i should just stick with the oranginal filter box i got a new filter tonight and im also going to do a oil change since they both have been way pass due and see what that does should i disconnect the negative battery post to reset the computer since its been such a long time thanks again for all the help

the stock intake setup is plenty sufficient for a stock motor, there are no power gains to be had there. a good tune-up is a much better investment than aftermarket intake junk.

avoid unhooking your battery when possible, as this resets your PCM's adaptive tables which will make your engine less efficient, and take it longer to identify bad sensors or other engine problems.
