Got a CB!

I used to just have an aux input on my old head unit and I would catch my self getting a little distracted so I went out and got one that fully integrates with blue tooth and has a remote that gives me control. Really makes all the difference in the world

Is it illegal to talk on your cell phone whilst driving too Weezl? It's only illegal to text here.

They need to add changing the songs on your damn Ipod too. I drive home from work at night, and I can see all kinds of idiots messing with their phones and Ipods.

talking on your cellphone is illegal, changing songs on your ipod is illegal, dialing a iphone that you have a hands free headset connected to is illegal...

changing the view or zooming into your windshield mounted GPS is illegal (along with entering addresses and such)

not only that, HOLDING a phone in your hand, without looking at it, or pressing buttons, is illegal

holding the cable to your hands free hedset, out from your body, so someone can hear you talking, while driving, is illegal...

using a two way radio communication device (ie cb radio) is illegal also

along with eating and drinking, though there is debate on the eating and drinking portions of the law, the law states it's illegal, but press releases stated that eating a snack or drinking coffee were not going to be illegal, i suppose it depends on how distracting it is... if you're eating a hamburger, bowl of soup... i can see getting a ticket, a one handed snack, like an apple, not so much

the only things that are not illegal to do while driving, is changing the radio station on your factory installed (or properly installed) head unit, rolling windows up/down, or viewing/manipulating the vehicle's instrumentation/controls, which include wipers, signals, ect

there is an exception for emergency services personnel, people contacting emergency services personnel, and a few other people, who can use cellphones/electronic devices, there's also something about people who require the use for carrying out their duties. There is another exemption for people who are "licenced by industry canada to use a two way radio communication device" which i am, so i may use 2 way radios, and if you want to get techinical, my cellphone is a two way radio communication device

i'll find the document and post it on here, as it's kinda funny how intense it is, it's the most comprehensive distracted driving law in north america

I dont see anybody mentioning that CB's or at least some type of communication devise is required in most offroad parks....

The blame canada and Team America World Police anthem come to mind while reading all those Canadia laws.

In the US we don't have those restrictions on cb's. However states and cities are beginning to adapt laws for electronic devices, geared mainly towards cell phones.

a one handed snack, like an apple, not so much

I'm pretty sure just eating an apple is illegal in the USA. Unless its been processed, liquified, dehydrated, modified, reconstituted, pressed and shape to resemble an apple, and tested by the FDA.

Wow ok back on topic guys, I don't plan on using it in traffic unless you count listening in while driving...

Make sure you get a good antenna. The longer the antenna, the better your signal. It would be good to hook it all up, then either get yourself an SWR meter or find someone who has one to get it tuned in, you'll get better range that way too.

Remember that if you have a $400 Cb radio and a $20 antenna.....it'll only work like a $20 radio.
If you have a $50 radio and a nice $100 antenna tuned properly, it's going to perform better than the above $400 radio.

Price does not equal better.....well not always. If you want to talk for miles a $400 galaxy with 100 watt amp will do the job. However a $100 cb will do you just fine with a properly tuned antenna. The key to making your radio work its best is the antenna.

Any recommendations on cheap antennas? Don't want to spend too much since I won't be using it for work or anything. I'll get out tuned somewhere probably a truck stop I dunno. I see a million different firesticks for varying prices. Under 50 would be great and 4ft is probably about as big as I'd like to go.

If you go out on the trails get a metal whip, they are less likely to break.

I have always heard good things about firesticks eazy to tune.
There pretty cheap on ebay for the 2 footers, I have not seen the cost of the 4ft ones on there.
