So i bought a m50d from a 89 ranger that was said to have worked when pulled so that i could swap to manual. It did not come with shifter or bushing so I bought the bushing kit. put the bushings in and i cannot move it into gear. The trans is NOT in the vehicle. Is this okay or did I get F**ked over?:dunno:
Thanks.

That's what The Guy said it was in. He showed me a picture and it had a 6 inch lift and just looked badass.

Anyways back to the Question. Anyone know any thing about this? This is my first time messsing with manual transmission,

Really? No one has ever tried this and ended up putting in and it worked just fine..

Okay so after some time searching i think the shift rails just need adjustment. Any one have some pics that will show me what i should be looking at. First manual trans and not sure about it.

I'm not sure but sounds like I'm having the same problem. What did you find out?

Are you sure the shifter is in right. If it's not in right the shifter jams up.Line up the notches and load the shifter.Adjustment is kinda a fine tune.

Assuming the shifter is installed correctly, try turning the input shaft a little as you try to shift it. I bet it goes right in gear.

wow really old thread. Ive had the trans swap done for atleast 1 1/2 months. The problem was that the pivot piece that i grabbed at the junk yard was the wrong one. pretty sure it came from a m5odHD.

Well I'm glad yours is fixed. However mine is still hosed up. Without a ride for a week now and I'm about to pull my hair out. I'm not a transmission guy by any means so I'm kinda clueless. I think the shifter is installed correctly. Thought it only went one way. I'm pretty sure the shifting forks or rods are out of wack. I can't slide them though. Any thoughts???
