For the electric choke try hooking the stator wire from the alternator up to it it is the one not going to anything and has no power going to it when the engine is not running and has around 8 volts when the engine is running and see if it opens the choke white/black stripe. otherwise use the power to the coil for it you may need to get a different stat that runs on battery voltage late 70s.
 
Did you buy the carb kit.

not yet, empied my tank yesterday and got 15.17mpg's, is that good for a 2.8 with 3.73's and 30's?. i was gonna do a 347 swap soon, but decided im going with a custom efi kit from affordable fuel injection. which i can use my tfi disty and have fully controlled efi built to my specs http://www.affordable-fuel-injection.com/ixxocart/products/Ford_TBI_Convesion_Kit-14-13.html

thats an example, they build custom to your specs. kinda pricey over the junkyard tbi but this way i get everything brand new and customer support.

question about that kit. should i use my current duraspark disty and ignition or use the tfi?
