My friend's grandpa owns a pawn shop. I was told last night that there were some subs and boxes that would fit in my truck. They are MTX 10 inch subs in MTX boxes. They survived a roller-over crash so i know they are tough. I am powering them with a 250 Sony amp that my friend is letting me borrow. My chest is hurting from listening to them too. I paid $50 for everything, and then $20 for the amp install kit.

Question:

The amp is turned up all the way. I still have to buy my own. Would it be wise to go with about a 400 or 500?

thats a good price but I'd imagine theres something wrong with them. You may not notice it but I bet the distortion level is fairly high. Not bad though if you just wanted some thump.

The only wierd thing i have noticed is when the bass gets low and the speakers hit against the air flow.

not a bad full range system. if the subs crap out you can always replace them with cheapos. the horns should last forever.

edit: do you have short legs? or is it just extremely uncomfortable? im 5'8" and my drivers side seat was all the way back in my old single cab ranger.

are you talking about the gain setting? that shouldnt be turned all the way up. your supposed to match it with the signal from the deck. google can be your best friend.

I used to drive with the seat all the way back. Now i feel like i'm driving with my knees in my chest, but i'm starting to get used to it.

Yes, but on the radio i have the bass turned all the way down. I guess i have some tuning to do.
