Hello all. I have a 2000 Ford Ranger XLT extended cab with a flareside bed. It's stock height and 4x4. I've been looking for some new wheels and tires. I just wanted to know what you guys would recommend? I would like the rims to be black. As far as tires go, I'm clueless. I live in South Dakota so the tires would have to be good on snow. Any input would be appreciated!

Budget?

Spray paint the rims black, and search the junkyards for a decent set of tires with tread on them.

I'd suggest retreads, but I haven't seen many that are small enough for most Rangers. 31" is about the smallest I've seen that's readily available.

If you insist on new rims, your only real budget choices are traditional steel spoke, or with round holes ("modular").

You can always get some Craigar Soft 8 steelies, unless you plan to due some serious off roading they should be fine for everyday use.

I've been looking at those. Is there anything I should be worried about if I chose to get them?

No, just make sure you torque the bolts right so they don't fall off. Oh and tires, I run General Grabber AT2's.

Retreads are a great option. Treadwright.com has a great product and fantastic service.

I've seen 15x8's with 235/75/15's mounted on them all the way up to a 35" tire so yea, they will work.

If I were to buy more wheels for my truck, RC's steelies are the ONLY way I'd go (unless I won the lotto and could afford Walker Evans BUT....).
Call RC Directly (In Dyersburg, TN) and see if they'll throw in the center caps cheaper or something. Sometimes they will. If you get the chance, Talk to Ryan... He's a buddy of mine and is probably their best Sales Guy. He'll hook you up if he can.

yes they are retreads, but I would NOT recommend them if I didn't think they were safe. I've seen them ran time and time again with zero issues.
