whats the difference between autolite platnums and double platinums? I just installed standard platinums on my ranger, and was wondering what the difference was between them.

Nice diagram, much easier than trying to explain the schematic. If I remember correctly, isn't it the passenger side that corrodes the electrode 5 times as fast as the driver's side?
Also, I seem to remember pulling alot of OE plugs that were double plat on one bank and cheap non plat on the other bank. I beleive they were installed like this from the factory. It is entirely possible that I am thinking of a different dis system though.

Clarification. Are you saying that only one set of plugs in series with each other fire each crank revolution, or all plugs fire each revolution, or two plugs fire each crank revolution following the firing order? shadyNot only this, but they fire every revolution of the crank, twice as often as with a conventional ignition.

You're saying all 6 plugs fire simultaneously each crankshaft revolution? shadyAll plugs fire for each crank revolution, 2 together at a time. With the 2 firing together, one cylinder will be near the top of the compression stroke, the other cylinder will be near the top of the exhaust stroke. With a conventional ignition, the plugs only fire near the top of the compression stroke, so the crank will make 2 revolutions for all the plugs to fire.

Motorcraft plugs and msd wires and your set. Also a brass terminal cap and rotor kit and your good to go.
