good mechanic anywhere?(RANT)

Report them to the BBB, make them either fix it this week or return your money. Also never take it back. I run my business on the basis I will not lie to you, I will stay late, come in early, or drive 100 miles to help you out. I have run my own shop for 2 yrs now, and man, i'm almost getting to hate people. Also as far as fixing it right the first time, listen to this and if the shop you go to doesn't do it leave. Ok they should ask i.e. ; it's over heating, when at stop lights, going down the road, does it over heat fast, or take a while, also any thing else going on? Then my first step is verify the problem with a test drive or a test run, then systematically test for the problem/ diagnose it. Call customer and give estimate for approval, do work, test drive for 5-10 miles to verify problem is fixed. Now someone said they paid for work not authorized, they screwed you, you have to approve any work over $100, and the final bill cannot be over 10% of estimate without approval.

Also I feel I have been a little biased. Everyone makes mistakes!

There is a GOOD machine shop in a far away town, this guy has been working on engines for over thirty years, runs his own buisness, has FLAT rates.

He has built engines that won NHRA competitions. If you want your engine cleaned and rebored, TAKE IT TO HIM. We have had about five engines done over the past 20 years, and we had only one time a mistake was made(forgot to reinstall oil plugs in head after a head rebuild)

LearjetMinako and mentalbreakdown00,
I am not trying to bash anyone that runs an honest business and i have been more than pleasant not being a jerk. Im sure it is tough to run a shop and listen to all the crazy people of the world but after 7 weeks of screwing with my truck im a little frustrated. The guy running the shop and fixing my tranny was fired while he had my tranny apart laying on the table for 2 weeks while he was aparently 300 miles away telling everyone he was working on their vehicles. This aparently wasnt a rare occasion. So now the owner is stuck with this thing he knows nothing about what went wrong but he has been more than accomodating and i will probably take it back there sometime as long as the thing is fixed right. I was just a little frustrated with the whole situation but if it runs in the end ill be fine

Its cool. I know the sitution like that can be a bit stressful. And we are all hear to listen to you and help give advice.
