good deal?

of course you can put in an aftermarket alarm, but that truck already has one, it also has power dl and windows...

kbb says:
Excellent
$7,510
Good
$7,110
Fair
$6,435

it is NOT in excellent condition, it has noticeable body damage in more than 1 location, as far as i'm concerned it's fair condition, i wouldn't pay more than about 6,500 for it and even that is on the high side...

if you go talk to him and he starts talking dollar figures for the money he has put into it, just tell him quite blatantly, that he will never get the money he put into it back... an 03 ranger with 10000 worth of parts is still just an 03 ranger, plus it's been offroading and been used hard

yeah, i was gonna say, put $6000 in a walmart bag and offer him that. he can have the bag too......and i agree, he's trying to get back the money he put into it.

it says it has power locks in the listing but in the one picture you can see the window handle so i dont think it does. in my area 4x4s are pretty rare and this one has pretty much everything i would want to do to it. minus re-gearing and prolly a sas with a locker. so even if i buy a stock ranger and put a cb in it and lift it and put 33's on it, it will prolly cost me 10+ grand. the biggest thing im worried about is the 3.0. i really wanted a 4.0 for the hp and torque but with this having the electric fan and flowmasters i would assume it gives it an extra 25+ hp.

yes but the thing is, it's HIS problem he has to sell it with all this stuff, not yours, the truck just isn't worth it market value... he's not totally off base with his asking price... but i think he's holding a little on a pedestal... go in with 6300$ cash, mostly 20's, offer him 6000, see how he reacts... you gotta play the game, make him think it's not nearly as nice of a truck as how he sees it... he's gotta see it through your eyes, right now you're seeing it through his eyes, which is what he wants... point out all the problems you see...

someone once told me, if you are going to buy a car, always go in with cash in hand (when possible) and always offer them half of the asking price, about 30-40% of the time, you will end up leaving with that car... i bought an 88 f-250 4x4, with a 460 and a 5 speed, for 460$ the guy was asking 800 i paid cash

people's eyes glow and they get hungry when they see a stack of cash, you just need to remember one thing... that cash in your hand is only paper, you CAN spend it, but don't spend it all...

the ranger i'm driving now, the price they had in the papers (the price in the papers came out after i put my deposit down) was 19,800, i paid 16,300 and got free oil and filters for 5 years, plus a clutch warranty, and wholesale price on tires for life

Nice looking '03. It does look clean. That front hitch really sticks out. Shin knockers in parking lots. People will get hit by that and smash out your windows....lol. Buy it if you can talk him down a bit. It has low mileage and it is lifted and has those black wild looking rims. He has put money in that truck and it shows. I would buy it!!!

thx for the help guys. i think ill give it a look but i really want a ext cab and a 4.0 so unless this guy is willing to give me a price i cant refuse i guess the search continues. you guys got any hints on buying one? as to anything that can go bad on the 4.0s? i am also looking at an 02 ext cab xlt with the 4.0 and 119k miles for 6k but i was kinda hoping to find one with under 100k that i can afford. but iv also been told that these motors are known to go 200k plus miles so i guess i shouldnt be as worried as i am.

dont buy it because of the rims. find a truck that may need tires or something easy to fix that others may not want to deal with and lowball the guy. lol

the 4L is a pretty solid motor, i've had mine for just over a year now, with no complaints at all... the "clutch gearset" as the dealership called it went on me, but of course, i had a clutch warranty written into the condition of my sale :D the slaves tend to go out on them too... but that's not 4L specific, the 3L was bad for that too...

as for 3L vs 2.3, honestly i would go for the 2.3, the 3L has like 20 foot lbs torque more, and i think 5 horsepower... the difference in fuel economy would be huge though i think the 4L on the other hand jumps up a lot...

i was thinking about this, this morning, if any when i sell my truck, i'm going to be asking more for it than it's worth, i'm going to try to sell it for what you might think it's worth, with the lift and the tires and all the mods i've done to it, simply because people are stupid, and someone will pay that... and i would much rather get an extra $5000 out of my truck
