Good but cheep cold air intake

If the OP is even still out there, I like my AEM CAI. It has a box structure that meets the hood with a weatherstrip type gasket and forms a "corner" that's shielded somewhat from the engine bay. I guess the air flows in from the grill/headlight area. I've had it on since 2004 and I just vacuum off the cone every year or so. It's a dry cone but does have the prefilter sleeve that is also hydrophobic. Put over 130k on with it and never had an issue. I did replace the original cone filter with another AEM after about 110k. I just didn't like the looks of the stock box. I have no idea if it helped or hurt performance but it looks and sounds good to me. I put the BBK intake on at the same time so tough to tell if the CAI did anything.

2.9 cosworth BOB. Considered the weaker of the two, revised intake that was utilized in the sho had its roots there. Variable runner design. Cool for the era.

They abandoned the revisions from boa to bob halfway through, and marketed it anyway. Final version notes and prints are out there, would have been the formula motor Hart wanted if it were finished.

As I said way back on post #12 on page 1, I have cold air tubes blowing cold air over my intakes on all my vehicles. In addition, I took a one inch hole saw to all the metal work in the vicinity of the filter on the Ranger. The inner fender looks like Swiss cheese. I have never felt the filter on any of the three intakes posted in post 12 to be "hot". During the winter, actually cold. During the summer, warm. Not much you can do during the summer months, for any vehicle, stock or otherwise. The hose on the Lightning and Mustang is three inch. The hose on the Ranger is two inch. Plus, the Mustang now has a front spoiler which diverts a bunch of air that would normally go under the vehicle, through the lower grill opening, where the ram air duct is located.

Watch this video. Watch the way air that would normally go under the vehicle is going through the lower opening. I love watching wind tunnel videos of cars with spoilers and air dams.

That front spoiler is about the same size as the one on my Mustang now. It's totally amazing what aerodynamics can do for vehicles.

There was the turbo whistle thing you stuck on your exhaust there for awhile too for those that couldn't pony up for the electric turbo.

And then there were the gas pills and magnets that were big sellers. Pill dropped into gas tank guaranteed 30% better mileage, and special magnets placed on the fuel lines also guaranteed better mileage.
I remember running them on an old Chevy I had, and damn if that old car didn't produce gas instead of using it.
