Good but cheep cold air intake

Well, if removing those tubes causes the cylinder walls to be washed down, tell me how I've managed to keep it running, and damn good at that, for 18 years and 168,,000 miles.

Every old hot rodder knows that the secret to making more hp is sound...the louder it is, the more hp it is making.
So, a cold air intake will be louder, therefor, more hp. Hot air, cold air, forget what the experts say, and all the thousands of hours that indicate cold air intakes are a waste of money, it's the sound that does it.
In the olden times, chrome also made more hp, so we chromed everything we could. But that no longer holds true as almost all exterior metal has been replaced by lighter plastic, so chroming is no longer necessary, as the weight savings negates having chrome.

The same way that the unicorn repellers I have mounted in my grill for the last 18 years have kept me from hitting any unicorns

Idiots get lucky.

That;s usually meant for the exhaust side and Harley Davidson riders. LOL!

I said it earlier, and I'll do so again. I don't do them for any perceived power gain. I do them because of the sound and the looks. That's all that matters to me. If you like the look of that stock ugly ass engine compartment with all the ugly black plastic stuff, more power to you. The Ranger, I did it for the big tube. I don't have any of the stock airbox components for any of the vehicles, they are all in the landfill. Good riddance to them.

Ever notice no one ever agrees with you... either you're albert einstein or just wrong alot. Im going with option B. Enjoy your lifestyle and bad decisions but stop providing them to other people who look to this place for legitimate information, which you do not have. Period.

I didn't tell anyone to buy anything. They can buy what they want. Aftermarket intakes have been around longer than you've been alive. They've never hurt one of my vehicles. You like your POS stock intake, feel free to keep it.

US auto makers haven't had a decent looking engine since the late 60', early 70's. Now you have engines that are simply lumps that do their job, hidden by wires, tubes, hoses, ect. Half the time you pop the hood on a modern vehicle and you can't even see the block. All you see is plastic and plumbing.
Pics I downloaded, those were ENGINES you could be proud to show off.

He'll have to get past my Kimber Grand Raptor 1911 .45acp.
He has something better...goats.
Just injecting a little humor....it was getting a bit heated there.

It's mostly since they started putting plastic covers over the engine. This one had a small cover but still looked cool:

Not much to complain about here:

Yes, there are exceptions, but in general engines in today's run of the mill vehicles (not the high priced exotics) are not attractive at all.
Take a look at a Hemi from the 60's and a modern one. New ones make the power, but older ones looked good.
All in the eye of the beholder.
