I know enough about auto transmissions to get very ripped off.
Can anyone recommend someone in my area?
I need it checked out. I'd rather not shell out $2000 + If some things can be done to keep the shuddering beast shifting.
My guy can pull the trans out, which should help cost. Says his "friend" can rebuild it for $1200 I'm eh... not so sure of that deal.
Moderate to slow driving; shifts are smooth and OD seems to work ok also.
When driving "assertively" making quick stops and starts it will often lurch forward.
1st and 2nd slam sometimes, reverse works but seems "soft" Engine, rotors, maybe the Torque converter are shuddering.
We will be working on the easy or simple things first. TPS, IAC, warped rotors, new tires, modulator, vac lines etc. No leaks showing, clean fluid, temps are now normal they were "hot" because of the ban fan clutch. It has a cooler (factory I'm guessing)
All the above has been in 2wd and I've only tried 4wd to make sure it works and it does
I bought the beast, 93 XLT 4.0 4wd with auto trans. because I like the truck. I don't like auto transmissions, but I must admit, now that I'm getting older, having an auto is ok, nice, even when on the road for a long day in and out the city.
Thanks!
