My girlfriend got me a Go Pro camera for christmas and I was wondering where other people mount them and what they mount them with. It came with a couple adhesive mounts. I want to be able to mount it under the truck and also on the side of my buddies car and the drag strip but am a little hesitant about just using stick on mounts.

It's not Christmas yet is it:icon_confused:?

The adhesive will work but for really hard core stuff I'd recommend a bolt-on mount.

For inside the car and on bikes and motorcycles the stick on mounts are great. It works well and I never had any issues with it. To mount it under a car it will need to have special mounts built..the same with the race car rides.

Have fun with it. That is a neat camera and I love them!!! I have 2 of them.

u can get a mount right off their sight for a rollbar mount and one for a seat post mount and those are 20 and 30 bucks and well worth it. I wish someone would buy me a go pro :bawling:

I got a 1/4-20 adaptor and found an empty bolt hole in the frame, a couple washers under the front of the frame and I was good to go to watch the glorious TTB flop around. The rollbar mount around the ball base of the antenea, suction cup on the windshield or the 1/4-20 adaptor with a bolt through the light tab on the rollbar all work great for looking ahead depending on what foreground you want.

For the rear I think it was the handlebar kit on a bolt through the receiver (packed with cardboard to prevent vibration)

On my F-150 I could also use the rollbar kit around the tow loop to look ahead I as I drove.

In car the handlebar mount on the post of the center of the mirror works great.

The skeleton case with an external mic and a cable is great for vehicles so you can get a nice exhaust note on your video as well.

The screen backpack helps aiming the thing and the battery backpack lets it run for twice as long... I think I have about every dodad for mine aside from the floatie thing. I have no boat or ambition to put my camera on one so I think I will pass on it. The suction cup mount is great for quick install outside of vehicles if you have the surface nice and clean. I have never used the adhesive mounts, they seem too aggressive (I don't want to hurt paint or leave it on) I always use a shoestring tether outside the vehicle in case the mount should fail... I don't like the thought of my $300+ camera bounding along the pavement or getting plowed under behind my tractor.

Did you get a Hero2 or Hero3? I just got a Hero2 last spring so of course it has to be obsolete right afterwards... :annoyed:

That interests me. Do you have any pictures of the mount or of the camera when its mounted?

Its a Hero3. It's got WiFi which is awesome because there is a free app from Go Pro to use with it that allows you to change all the settings from your phone and shows what the camera sees so you can adjust the camera to get a good picture before you start recording.

He didn't start anything, he just agreed.

I like the under vehicle idea but to me a light tab mount or roll bar mounting will not only give you a good picture of what is going on but also you will get some of the movement feelings as the top of the vehicle moves around.

Mount it with a suction cup as high on the window as you can... Easiest way and quick removal too.

Got a bolt and found a hole under the truck and was able to make my very first video. Just drove it around the block a couple times to test out the 1080p on the camera and test the mount so its not too exciting.
