I just picked up a 1993 ford ranger 4.0 autotragic 4x4 I'm really big into the desert scene and have built quite a few Rangers for personal use and other people. All that I have done has been 2wd stuff I finally got tired of looking at a road and saying damn I wish this was 4x4 or watching my friends and family with 4x4s climb up hills that I couldn't. Now on to my questions I do a lot of fairly high speed off-roading 50+ through whoops and across just about anything I can find around vegas so I want this truck to be a multipurpose vehicle I'll be building 6 over d35 ttbs with d44 knuckles and rcv axles up front but I'm not sure what to do about the transfer case I'd like to be able to run 55-60mph through sand and silt with 4x4 engaged I know that will be hell on the factory transfer case so what are my options ideally I'd like it to still have a low range for when I'm up hunting and just want to crawl around the mountains as well.
