I was looking inot getting a hei distributor for my jeep and i started wondering if anyone has ever tried to put one in a ranger. has anyone tried this? if it would work it would be so much easier than a dura spark conversion. for those that dont know a hei distributor is an all in one distributor that has the coil and module all built into the distributor.

Yep, been done. It uses the same distributor as the Duraspark system, but the HEI module replaced the duraspark box.

There are several threads on it in the forums, but you might have to use google site search to find them. IIRC our search is limited to 4 character words minimum.

You can get HEI dizzys for SBF's (I would assume BBF also)

If you google "stealth HEI" or something like that there is a write up on how to make it work on others.

True, I was thinking about the 2.8L specifically. Haven't seen an HEI distributor for it, but have read of people using the HEI in it.
