Global warming or mini ice-age??

Thanks Kommando and Evan. I do my part in cleaning up whatever I find (it's not common to see stuff that needs cleaning, as I live pretty much in the country)

How do you get rep power anyway?

You click the little scale button.

I watched these 2 episodes a while back

http://www.history.com/shows.do?episodeId=173248&action=detail

http://www.history.com/shows.do?episodeId=179977&action=detail

and what I found interesting during what they call the mini ice ages, was that when the earths temps dropped, it wasn't caused by CO2 emissions from automobile exhaust or factorys.........since there were none at that time.

Sure, it's on TV so it's probably BS or not BS, yada-yada, but it was interesting to say the least. If you haven't seen those yet, give 'em a try, they post the next time it'll be shown.

I call BS and the world is NOT coming to an end. Just like it was in the 80,90, 2000, it is NOT coming to an end anytime soon!!!

And the bs flag for fun --- :bsflag:

How do you know? How do we know?

I go by my faith in the Bible and God and use Revalations.

hahah global warming is bullshit im up in southern BC near nelway border in washington and **** we got a record snowfall id hate to see northern BC lol

global warming: double BS!

skippy and mark88 have good input.

I'm surprised that MAKG has not responded yet, as I am certain it will be enlightening and accurate and scientific.

Speaking of "scientific," that is exactly what the UN-sponsored group of so-called scientists did NOT present with their "consensus."

"Science" and "consensus" are oxymorons.

Most of the "Global Warming Crisis" is based upon a computer model of the Earth's atmosphere; there exists a large number of variables in the model, and those variables are difficult to quantify. A computer model of the optimal drying time of automotive paint was created and, due to the number of variables that were difficult to quantify, the model failed to predict a useful answer for the painter--this a much smaller model with far fewer variables. Where am I going with this?...Conclusion: Do not believe the liberal/progressive/socialist/wealth-redistribution drivel that the old media reports, because it is based upon faulty evidence and therefore, faulty conclusions. More accurately: They did not let fact get in the way of their foreknown opinion.

Yes, the temperatures may be slightly warmer in some areas now, but in the Middle East, temperatures are dropping. SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE demonstrates that there are cycles of heating and cooling, and that these periods may span 200 years. SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE admits that the "hole in the ozone layer" can not be measured. SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE identifies that the single largest producer of CO2 (carbon dioxide) is animals.

Yes, we, especially the offroad community, should clean up after ourselves and others when on a trail, and we should not dump our used oil on the ground or into the sewer drain, and we should recycle our EverReady flashlight batteries, and our flourescent lamps should not be broken and put in the dumpster (due to mercury content)--that should be common sense; but we need not fall prey to the media hype of "Environmental Crisis" that is currently in vogue--the "Crisis" simply does not exist.

I'm pretty sure that he meant that the world is not coming to an end the way the "scientists" say it is.

I believe it's coming to an end as well (within 500 years or so)... but I have no idea when that's going to happen for certain.

I like science, it's super interesting, but when it tries to defy God... I stop believing in our own mankind.

I can't tell if you +1 or dissed me...

I did not recognize a comment upon my post.

You seem to support then deny the liberal mantra of global warming crisis.

Then you contradict yourself: "I think we have a VERY LITTLE affect on the warming if it exist. The ONLY thing we can do is slow it down."

Then you provide the most interesting comment: "Other than that it IS going to happen if it wants to." Here you imply that Global Warming has an intellect--that it is a sentient being, and that it decides its destiny.

As my instructor in Police Academy once said, "Tell me more!"

How do I know? Well, did it end in the 80's? 90's? 2000? Nope...so why would it end at 2012.

I don't have any faith in the bible nor god at all. I believe we live and die. If we are all equal then why do we have cancer? Why do babies die? Does that sound fair to you?

You can believe in what ever you want. But remember, you only have ONE life...if you waste it now praying then what do you have to show for when your dead?

God made science. He made the universe and Earth. How he did it? I do not know- I really don't care either cause I would hate to have his job.

Cancer is just a part of a disease for a human. Why do babies die? The Lord takes and the Lord gives. He loves everyone. REMEMBER! EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON! Bad things lead to good things. That's why the Earth is still going. There is still good out there. Just look for it and try to do good!

YOU DO have a choice with what you want to do.....but is it the right choice?

I pray, to reach and hope God will give me a better day- as well as for other people. People today don't have hope or faith- that is their downfall. Most people are to weak in the brain to think about the future or what will happen if they do certain things.
People are to caught up in personal goals or doing something cool (but actually isn't) instead what is good for them.

Haven't you notice over time, more people have stop believing in God which is leading to harder times?

How come the Bible has more truth about the past and what is happening now instead of everything else? Now why isn't people looking at it and think about it? Cause they're to damn selfish and to dumb to think.

Everyone wants everything given to them but it can't go that way.

Airborne_Ranger: "More accurately: They did not let fact get in the way of their foreknown opinion."

Exactly...they start at the conclusion and manipulate their 'statistics' to justify their agenda...seen that many times...Good point!

luvmy22re "I don't have any faith in the bible nor god at all."

I can't add much to what Kommando SS posted other than it is a matter of choice. If you choose to not believe then that's great as long as it works for you.

My experience, however, after having put too much faith in science and human endeavors led me to the conclusion that if we needed to rely on our ingenuity and resourcefullness to pull us out of a bind we are, collectively, DOOMED!

My comment to Airborne_Ranger should sum up what we are up against when we rely on politics and science...

If we're so technologically advanced, why do approximately 11,000,000 children starve to death every year? Politics...greed, power struggles...

If everyone was humble and worshipped a God that does not tell them to go out and kill everyone else because they don't worship their God and we truly had 'brotherly love' we could, collectively, eliminate starvation, war, crime, and topless waitresses poking you in the eye with their boob (sorry, had to add that for levity).

Faith may not cure cancer or prevent all deaths of those we love, but it does provide answers...may not be answers we want to hear, but that's part of faith...belive that God will provide for you and He will...just my 2¢ (alt + 155) worth...

Pretty much what I think. I'm all for cleaning up emissions and switching to non-polluting or minimal ways. Everyone has a right to clean water and clean air but we don't need to bring the economy to a halt to do it.
I read an article in the newspaper the other day suggesting that we should stop building houses out in the country and should be living in condo type housing to reduce our "carbon footprint". Driving to and from our rural homes is bad for the environment due to the extra emissions that our trucks emit compared to catching the bus from a condo. I for one would probably murder someone if forced to live in a condo. I like my space.
I'm tired of feeling like we are under attack for living like a Canadian. I live in a province 1200km long by about 600 km wide with a population of 3 million people. We have to drive to get anywhere or do anything or see anyone. Canada is a big place.

Well, I hope I didn't sound like I was totally against cleaning up emissions...because I agree if there is something we can do then we should...especially oil burning vehicles that you can see the smoke coming out of the tailpipe. Even though it is costly to fix or replace a vehicle like that it is probably for the best...

My previous two drive clean tests cost me over $3,000 so I'm not fond of the testing. Fortunately, my DD passed with flying colors this time around and I only had to replace the gas cap (did this before the test).

You can neither create nor destroy matter. You can only change its form, solid, liquid or gas. When you burn a pound of gasoline, coal, wood, diesel etc. you convert it to a pound of gas. Multiply that times several million barrels of oil per day and you have a massive amount of gaseous hydrogen, carbon, sulfer and many other elements released into the air we breathe. It's basic chemistry and physics. To discount this and call BS is simplistic. The point of the global warming alarmists is we don't know what effect it will have other than it will make the weather more unpredictable with greater extremes both hot and cold, wet and dry. God gave us free will and if we're too blind to use it wisely and destroy our environment we will indirectly fullfil the biblical prophecies of Armmagedon. If you don't understand cause and effect you had better start praying REAL HARD.

my dad told me same thing, maybe 2012?

Funny to mention that, I was talking to my dad who is really into history and such, and he was mentioning 2012 too. Apparently, for the people who don't know, a lot of ancient religions and profits, ext have stated threw their calenders and theories that 2012 is going to be the end of the world. Apparently all of their theories just stop all around the September/October/November are and there is nothing after that. Scientists have also noted that in that time period all of the planets (Pluto included on this), will line up exactly to each other, and the gravitational imbalance is going to move the earth is such a way where there will be huge natural disasters and wide spread havoc (such as in the movie "the day after tomorrow"). If this is true or not, no one knows until it does happen, but until then we're just going to be thinking up theories until it happens or doesn't. Still odd that many civilizations that have been extinct for thousands of years all predicted something major to happen within a few months of all the others. civilizations that predicted the same thing. Also, when scientists looked back to the last time the planets lined up (about 25000 years ago, if I remember correctly), the earth had similar problem to what we are seeing today, and then things almost turned backwards and life slowed down for a few thousand years and then started back up. Ya, anyways, as for Global warming, bring it on, I'm tired of this -30 BS, and as for the mini ice age, don't even think about coming to Alberta!

This is what you're referring to...

The Mayan calendar ends on Dec. 21, 2012. Since they were near perfect in accuracy for many stellar events (solar eclipse, lunar eclipse, the rise and set of Venus daily for more than 3000 years, comets, and even solar flairs that have happened since they were wiped out like so many ants by the Spanish. (they even saw that coming and were so convinced that it was meant to be that they allowed it.) So the debate is, since they have no dates after this day, that the world will end on that day.

So. The calendar not only ends 12/21/2012, the numerology of that number 12212011 is one that spells disaster.
Their calendar pictograms for this day show the dragon of the sky vomiting water onto the earth, the sun and the moon pouring water onto the earth, AND a ancient female diety (Gaia?) pouring water onto the earth.
