Global Ranger revisited - again

I'd love to see it come back. The chevy colorado doesn't seem like a bad truck to me...All ford needs to do is basically mimic that (diesel / Manual too) and I'm sold!

i think the picture of the balck one looks pretty mean. but if you take off the front bumper, roll bar, and aftermarket wheels. it just looks ugly as hell. waaaaaaaay to foreign for fords looks.

Yep that is just an automated email. I got the same thing.

I got a different response. They pretty shut all rumors down if you ask me.

"At this time there are no confirmed plans to bring out a new Ranger model. However, we always accept and greatly appreciate feedback and suggestions from our loyal Ford customers. The Ranger has been a valued product in our Ford truck portfolio and has a loyal following. Although there are no current plans in place to offer the Ranger, for 2014 we have introduced the all-new F-150 Tremor. The new Tremor packs the big power of our 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine into a regular cab, full-size pickup package."

Yeah, I know what you mean, I love the older trucks. But there are people out there who want to buy a truck for fuel efficiency, I know, I know, crazy talk right?

MPG > looks for a daily driver. That's why I'm running stock height, a redneck front valance, and a cut down tonneau(ok, the tonneau doesn't look bad).
The 2013 front end is right aerodynamically, and appears to be upgradeable to a big bumper-I'd say it's just right.

I am pretty excited to see the new chevy colorado in action.

I was looking into them a few months back on Ford Australia's site.

It seems like they have pretty decent power, towing capacity, and decent mpg.

I'd buy one if they brought them here.

Yep, I'd buy one too. Not sure why Ford insists on losing out on this market. I don't want or need a full sized truck, a lot of people don't. Can't wait 'till the day I come rolling into work here at a Ford dealer in my new Toyota Tacoma... My Kid is getting tired of being crammed in the tiny back seat of my Ranger.

Funny they look like the Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon, just with Ford emblems. Add to that useless, there's practically no truck bed. They just rebadged a Ford Explorer Sport Trac with Ranger emblems WTF.

Exactly! worse yet looks like they are independent rear suspension. So even if it did have a decent sized bed it would squat like a honda ridgeline if you put anything in it.

it does have a solid axle in the back, they claim 1342kg load capacity in the tech specs. I've seen it on the streets around here and it awfully resembles a Toyota Hilux, which I'm not sure it's availabe for the US market. Mid-size trucks are becoming increasingly popular in the Latin American market so the Ranger was only absent for one year here I believe. Nissan, Toyota, VW, GM, Dodge, Fiat, Mitsubishi, and Ford carry not only mi-sized trucks but also compacts. Take a look at this:

Ugly....... :annoyed:

A couple of years ago FPV (The Australian SVO) had some really nice Ranchero equivalent. Latest ones have a 6 speed manual with a 4.0L turbo. Think they are approx. 350hp. Maybe they don't carry all that much but for the very few times I haul heavy, use my trailer.

I've always wanted one of those toyota hilux's after seeing the top gear episodes where they beat that diesel one up and it still ran.

I would love it if there were no electrical nannies and a I-6 (gas or Diesel) engine/5 speed manual trans/truck tires on 16" steel wheels/solid axles front and rear/and finally leaf springs at both ends. :icon_twisted:

Maybe it will have an aluminum body like the F150 so if you get stuck all that needs to be done is pick it up and carry it to solid ground. And no rust ever :yahoo:

I've been reading around, and there might be a chance a light duty pickup will come back, it just won't be called the ranger. They are having all those new vehicles they plan to introduce, we will see.

We can deal with it not being called a Ranger. Probably would be so different that calling it that would just cause confusion anyway. But a truly new design SMALL TRUCK (not 90% or a car with a bed) would be an ideal vehicle. Imagine what they could do with an EcoBoost or something......
