"220, 221, whatever it takes."
Just an FYI.
I put a Gibson cat-back on my Sport Trac. 2.5" pipe which is bigger than stock. Basically it slid right on no problem, only issue was that we had to find some shorter bolts and springs to bolt it on to the cat. The shoulders on the OE bolts were too long.
Did have to cut the OE pipe to get it out around the IRS.
Sounds good outside the truck, a bit too loud inside the truck for my taste.
I did pick up about 3 mpg on the highway. City mpg is no different.

You picked up 3mpg? That's amazing.

That's surprising that it's louder in the cab. I just did that on my explorer sport and it is quieter in the cab than with the stock muffler. Louder outside.

His sig say's 4.0. Mine is a 4.0 also. I like the way it sounds, very quiet in the cab. I am very happy with it.

yeah i was thinkin maybe he has a v8 one too from the description of the experience.

V6. The Sport Trac does have a side exit exhaust, where a regular Explorer has a rear exit. Probably why mine sounds louder in the cab.

It is rated at 19 highway. If I have the cruise control on and it's a pretty flat road and I keep it under 70 mph, it shows 22 mpg on the dash display. I saw as high as 23 mpg on a 30 mile highway trip in Florida last year. Everything is flat in Florida.

I just bought a used ranger with the Gibson side exit exhaust. The exhaust note is nice, but cruising down the highway about 2500-3000+ it gets real annoying. Thinking about getting rid of it.

Mine isn't too bad when I'm alone but if a couple of people are in it or towing a trailer, it's louder with the heavier load. I got a chrome resonator tip at AutoZone for about $25 that helped a little bit.
