Getting the itch for a hi-po street sleeper....

:bsflag:

When I was a State Trooper I got a new Crown Vic every 2-years. I can tell you that the crown vic won't go over 130 from personal experiences. Even going down a grade. The power on the Vic always seemed to kick in and out at 130 like something was holding it back.

The interceptor didn't even come with the good 4.6 that you could find in Mustangs and Lincolns.

The only thing that makes the Crown Vic an interceptor is the improved suspension and cooling packages. You could run flat out all day long and the only thing that would over heat was the driver because the A/C compressor cuts off when running at all out full throttle.

i was kinda thinking it was a load too. the guy said it wasnt stock but i have my doubts it was able to do 167.

What do you think a 77 LTD II would do with a 351W with a good cam, 4bbl, headers, and heads, and a 3.55 rear end?

The only reason im kinda nervous about doing something newer is ive never dealt really with modding electronic BS.

I dont want a festiva, lol. I want somethin ican throw the family in and go crusing but still dust hondas light to light.

I think the PI Vics are governed to 126..or 130 or something like that.

Ive LOVED the maruaders ever since they came out in 04, but they are rare and expensive.

I dont care about top end anyways, i just wanna mat the pedal, and hear the tires begging for mercy as you get pinned in the seat. Thats my high.

later,
Dustin

advantages of police interceptors over regular crown vics: oil coolers, 3.55 rear axles, built trannys, chipped ecu, aluminum driveshafts, reinforced frame and body mounts, severe duty suspension, stainless steel dual exhaust, strobes, bigger battery, and a bunch of modifications to the interior that to dont feel like listing. plus their cheap as hell :)

all this is off wikipedia btw

edit: speed limited @ 135 mph

They are a heavy car and ride really well. I think a good shift kit in a c6 with a built windsor will do what you want.

i watched a street racing ppv one time and they had a build LTD painted up like a cop car lights and all.. but had a big doughnut on the side of it ... i have a boss 429 with trans... hrmm what fun that would be haha

that would scream!:yahoo:

Id do the 77 and leave it stock looking. Then I'd through everything I had into the running gear to make it a screamer.

i like the way you think:icon_thumby:

I dont know Dustin. We used to have these discussions at length. hehe... remember?

I know you like those big cars, but you have to contend with the weight. My only thoughts are that you should run a small block and use forced induction with a clutch locker rear end. Avoid the high stall torque converter as those raise a flag. Big blocks with cams can have that, bowling balls in a dryer sound that always give them away as well. An LTD II weghs what, 4500lb ? That's twice a Honda. You'll need 500hp... maybe 400lb of torque early to take a well sorted EF/EG/EK out. Then you have to get it to hook.

Dusting Hondas are getting harder. The K20a and F20's are enableing early year Honda's to run 12s and 13s. Dont get it twisted, these cars will be crazy sleepers. If they add cams, more compression or n2o or turbo, it's gets even worse. The K20 loves bolt ons and a set of 500 dollar cams is a 50hp increase and doesnt make it lopey. 270 crank HP in a 2000 lb CRX or early Civic is brutal. These swaps are cheapish and getting really popular. My friends CRX with an F20 from a European SIr Accord runs 12's. The car idles just like any other Honda... because the engine is essentially stock. His car is clean, not ricey at all. In fact, it's very well done. I used to street race when I was a young knucklehead in the 80s. We used a Chevy Monza with a 400hp 327 and it ran 12's. It was no sleeper... it loped like it was it's job. We fooled very few.

Shoot, the 240sx I race now runs very conservative boost and runs a 14.4 or so (it's a street tired road racing and drifting car, not a slick tired drag car). Again, it fools nobody. The blow off valve is a give away. Honda's have it made right now.

Now to bust a snot nose kid with a very common B16 swap, you only need to run high 14's. That should be fairly easy as most of these guys cant launch and need some space to rev. A well sorted big car can sit back on the tires and let the V8 torque do the rest. If your beating them after the intersection, there will be nothing they can do.

Bottom line... torque to weight ratio.

:icon_rofl:

I know. I was like WTF! It seemed so much smaller on the page where I found it!

I found a smaller example to use instead.

my buddies got a civic b18c with a gt35r running 500whp...

if your not worried about top end go with some 4.10ish gears..

Hey, even Jay Leno has a Festiva:
