1993 Ranger 4x4 SkyJacker 6 inch with rear blocks. I have shocks, I have the FA600 drop pitman arm ,I have the rear U Bolts. ALso the extended brake lines. I will be disconnecting the sway bars and just not running them for a while. And I bought new radius arm bushings. Anything else I need/forgot?

Anyone that has installed this lift or a similar one, how long did it take?

Any helpfull hints or suggestions?

Thanks

The worst part is removing the rivets from the radius arm mounts:icon_welder: I did a Class II kit on mine in a day:icon_thumby:

i second the rivits being a pain in the ass. dont forget the allignment after and the alignment bushings... if youll need them at all. and i wouldnt remove the swaylinks entirely until youve driven with a 6" lift. i have a 4" roughcountry plus 2" coil spacers and its not fun taking a corner over 10mph with out the links. i made quick disconnects for mine by using an adjustable hitch pin with the stock links. the links arent as long as they should be, but they still work better than nothing!

i've been removing my old D28 and factory suspension this past week. i've used a combination of my angle grinder with a cut off wheel and my sawzall. then i use a punch to get the rest out. it's worked ok so far.

Grinding the heads off and knocking them out was faster for me than drilling them all the way through, though a couple stubborn ones I still had to drill them down about 1/8" more after grinding the heads off before they'd knock through... I'd say have both the grinder and drill handy.

Some have mentioned torching them out too, though I'd be careful not to heat the frame up too hot with the torch (especially on the driverside where the fuel lines & wiring are).

Yeah the best method to remove the rivits is a grinder, take it down fairly level as you grind. When the head is gone and you ground properly you should have a visible circle where the metla and rivit join together. Center on the rivit and give it a good whack with a hammer and punch and it shuld pop righ tout the back side.

actually, its way easier to put an "x" on the head and pound it out with a punch than it is to grind them flat out. with a torch and is pretty easy if youre ok with a torch.

I have always done them with a torch and scarfing tip.

I took all the rivets off that way, it took me a whopping 10 min to take the 6 or so that hold the coil buckets on.

Then you beat them out with a punch.

I am too impatient to use a grinder or drill.

Just remember when using the torch method to use wet rags around the fuel tank or lines and or anything that can melt and catch fire. And have a hose or fire extinguisher readily available. :icon_thumby:

dont use water on an oil fire, just moves the oil around and makes a bigger fire fyi.

water will spread a chemical fire, but he wasnt saying to put a chemical fire out with water. a wet rag would cool the sparks and avoid causing a fire is what he meant

Thanks for the tips guys.

Haha Believe me I know not to use water on an oil fire, Im in the fire department and in Fire Fighter courses thats about the first thing they teach you.

Duh? My truck doesn't leak oil so I'm set :thefinger:

OP, when I did my lift the first time around it was about 8 hrs the first day, and about 3 the next dialing in everything.
