i recently bought a 1979 f150 for $350. he had lost the title and i was gonna give him another $100 when he gave me the title after filing for one. turns out he isnt reliable with phones and his is now cut off. i dont know where he lives and i cant find how to get in touch with him.

if i cant get ahold of him ever again, there isnt any way i could file for a title myself is there?

or am i just stuck with a truck with no title?

first you never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never ever buy a vehicle without a title unless your just stripping parts.

second you can get a mechanics lein. go to your county clerk or court house and tell them its been in your posession for 31 days and he owes you money on it for some work.

haha i got a little over excited.
i goofed! what can i say?

In NH, this wouldn't be an issue. Any vehicle over 15 years old you don't need a title to register.

I don't understand how people loose their titles... thats like losing your damn nose...

i would, execpt for the fact I'm living on a buddy's couch right now. You'd have to get it inspected in NH as well. And get a NH driver's licence...

The laws regarding titling vehicles vary greatly from state to state. All the info you need will be on your state's DMV website.

People don't usually lose titles, they just say that

1. vehicle has lien an bank still has the title
2. haven't transfered it from the last owner yet an theres a big penalty
3. stolen vehicle somewhere along the line
4. actually did lose title, but if they did its no big deal at all to get another from state

Yup im lost as to how ppl can lose it. it goes in your glove box and never moves. lol

Well, in Mo. all we hafta have with us is the registration paper, inspection cert, an the ins card.

Most people usually keep their titles at home in a file cab. or at their bank in a safe deposit box..................:icon_thumby:
