figured this would be the area for this kind of random question. So the other day I got a speeding ticket her in wonderful Murrieta, CA. It is for 52 in 35. Bike cop was waiting in some shadows on pretty much 1 of 2 roads with 35 mph limits, and this one I had been down once before little tiny short road. Anyways, pulls me over and within 2 minutes hands me my ticket and goes and sits in the exact same spot. Probably emptied a whole friggin book that day.

Is there any way to get out of these or is it just better to pay and do traffic school?

In my opinion, if you were going 52 in a 35, just own up and pay the ticket. It's easier that way too, don't have to miss work or school to go to court.

You were caught breaking the law. 52 in a 35 is almost 20mph over, consider yourself lucky he just gave you a ticket.

Pay the ticket.

paying the ticket is going to be the easiest way out. too much of a hassle to try and get out of a ticket for that much over

20 over is reckless endangerment .. you got lucky

There are ways to reduce fines an so forth....

But doing nearly 20 over? Man up, pay the fine, an keep off the skinny pedal.

i went to court for doing 75 in a 50 (back when i was dumb) and the judge lowered it to 59 in a 50, even tho its inconvenient court is always the best option, if i hadnt gone to court another time the judge would not have found me not guilty for an accident i got charged for , so going to court has its advantages,

17 over the speed limit is way too fast and you deserve every penny of the fine you have to pay.

I want to say "go to court". But I don't know what I would say when I got there. I could say "Well, I didn't see the sign." Or, better, "I didn't see the cop." Or you could say your speedo was temporarily insane. But, hey, give it a try, why not?

yeah, i'm still considering both options. I was lookin at this truck in a parking lot at a school I was passing and passed the first sign on the road. second was right by the cop and by that time too late. just wasnt payin attention to the speedo. had already shifted to 5th

what ever you do DO NOT MAKE EXCUSES, the judges can tell when you are lying quite well so just plead guilty like i did and the judge let me off with just an 80 dollar fine instead of 160

Pay it. I'll admit right now I do 45-50 in some 35 zones around here, that much over you should really pay the ticket.

If you can't afford the ticket, don't speed. That's why I don't. I'd rather not take the chance and spend my money elsewhere.

best way out of a speeding ticket is do not speed. own up to it in court and the judge might let you off with a smaller fine
