Alright so I'm debating here...

Should I build my 4th gen or try to get a 1st gen to build?

Both trucks will be built the same, sas'd with d44/d60 or 14b sitting on 36's, and both probably engine swapped to whatever.I-feel-like at the current moment.

I love the looks of both, but I'm wondering if there's gonna be much difference in the ease of swaps between the two generations?

I think that the 4th gen ought to be harder to swap, but is it enough to get rid of my truck? Is there any other reason to change generation besides looks? Are the 1st gens any easier to work on?

Thanks for the input guys :icon_thumby:

isnt 1 gen easier to work with for off roading because of the suspension up front?(ttb vs ifs on 4gen) assuming the 4 gen is what we both have 98+:icon_twisted:

yeah I hate the IFS and don't plan on keeping it... but I don't plan on keeping the ttb either :D

But it would tempt me to lift it for temporary play while I'm building the axles and other nifty parts.

I've worked on 1st gens a lil but not much, but they do seem alot easier to work on. I just wanted more opinions.

You already have the 4th gen, and with your to-do list (sas/engine swap) I dont see it making much difference, so my vote goes for 4th gen.

I vote 1st gen.

The 1st gens are old enough that they will likely be exempt from smog testing so your engine plans are a lot more open.

Your area may not have smog testing now but I fear it's coming for everybody.

^true... we don't have it here in Oregon so I'm safe running whatever as long as it doesn't make peoples ears and eyes bleed from the loudness :icon_rofl:

but you never know when it's coming...

How about you sell me your truck so I can swap my body onto it :D
