I have a 89 ranger, single cab.. I was wondering if I do the conversion (removing the center portion), will there be the same gap as if I swapped two buckets into the truck?... If I don't get any increase, I will just cut out that center portion. I want to install a console and put a sub in between the seats.

I have searched. I have the conversion article bookmarked, I haven't seen my body style or generation mentioned in particular. So I'd just like to be sure.

thanks,
-jason

I swapped in a set of Grand Cherokee buckets. I have about 8" between the seats where I added a center console and armrest.

The passenger side IS a bucket,

Frankly I'd just go shopping for the drivers side bucket (if not a pair) NON-POWER
seats from a Gen1 Explorer.

Salem huh... interesting

I just got buckets for mine, the drivers side seat was dead anyway.

I put salvage yard hi-back buckets out of a Ford van in my '89.....I modified the sliders off my original seats to fit the van seats....worked great...makes a great lounge chair at rest stops to get a quick snooze on long trips...

that sounds awesome, do you have pics of them? what year or generation did you use? The leather seats in our '94 Limited are pretty nice.

AHH, ok I didnt know if the passenger bucket was the same as the normal buckets or if it was some special version for the 60/40 split

awesome, thats the first time Ive seen another person from Salem on a forum. I live over by the state police, how about you? What year and model did you get yours from? If you dont mind, I might like to come look at how you did yours if I get stuck on something.

this sounds cool... I am dissapointed about not having a head rest, if the explorer buckets dont have a headrest, Id definitely be interested in going this route.

Trust me if AllanD tells yea the passengerside is a bucket then it's a bucket that dude knows more about RBVs than GOD knows about humans.

ahh, ok.. Ill trust him then.. Ill ask my local yard then... maybe he might even be willing to take the old bucket as a possible trade. I forget what the other threads said.. does the exploder seat swap in or do I need to change/modify the rails...

They should fit the other half of the 60 is jsut hanging off the seat you havea regular seat rails under it you should just be able to unbolt the 60 drop in a bucket and go.

awesome, I might go get a seat later today then...

hey scott, you dont happen to have an old drivers side bucket do you? or did you have 60/40 aswell.

I "had" a set of 60/40 seats about a year ago, I don't have any spare anymore, my garage is TINY.

your options are pretty open with what you have, the 60/40's have the same seat tracks as buckets

Do a search here!! This question has been asked way too many times!!!

I guess I made you so upset that you had to take to the time to respond, I'm sorry.

I actually did search and I didn't find enough information to convince me to proceed without asking. If I found something satisfying, then I wouldn't have started this thread....

I didn't want to go out and spend money and have it turn out to be a bigger ordeal than I thought. I didn't see the problem with me just asking a question to confirm what I already thought. I didn't see my specific truck mentioned (generation, seat type, and cab type).

for the people that helped me out, I really appreciate it. Thanks Again... For the other two people, why even bother posting? Its not like I can back and delete this thread... Maybe this will save the next person that comes along with the same truck as mine from starting another thread...

@The Moderators: Please lock this thread, This isn't going to go anywhere positive.

Lol. He doesn't have that "Tech Advisor" banner under his name for nothing.

And from what I've read, all you have to do to swap in Xploder seats is to swap the seat tracks. I think.
