i have 1986 ranger with 3.45 wanted to go with 4.10 its 7.5" inch can u just put them in or is there 2 different housings 3.08 up to 3.45 and 3.73 to like 4.56. why are the yukon gears have notched cross pin and the genuines dont whats the difference
 
There are no carrier breaks on the axles used in rvb's. some of the originals do have notched cross pns. Answers to your questions are answered in much greater detail in the tech library.

not exactly true...
on my 1983, i had to get the larger carrier for the front d28. mine had the 3.45's and my 4.56's needed the carrier that had either 3.73's or 4.10's in it.
for the rear, there was no problem at all.
hope you're taking the opportunity to install at least a rear locker while you have it all apart. well worth the money for sure. just my $.02, and good luck with your project!
