ok i have a 91 ranger 2.3l 5 spd. it is slow, i am not sure of the gears in the rear end as of right now. but does it make a difference if you put 373 or 411 in it. i want it to get up and move faster from stop.

honestly you probably have 3.08 gears if it's a base model truck (look on the door tag, stock tire size of 195 70 14?), so anything else would be an improvement. Gear it to the tire size you plan to run, do you plan to screw with the tire size anytime in the near future? If you plan to run the stock tiny tires, 3.45 or 3.73 would be fine but you would be running more rpm on the freeway with 3.73's, if you are wanting to run something like a 235 75 15 tire, 4.10's would be good

just jumping up to a different stock ratio it's cheapest to just swap the whole axle assembly, you can get those for around $100 at junkyards or off of craigslist, and can be done in a day with normal hand tools your first time
