i have a 1987 ranger 2.3 5sp 4by i am going to use this as a DD and a weekend trail rig . i am wanting to put a 4 inch tuff country and 3 inch body with 33s i was told ill need 4.88s . i am just wondering if thats true if not what gears should i run and what brand thanks

if you go 33's you would want 4.56's, i have 4.10's now with 33's and it does good until you get around 60mph (5th gear).....with that much lift though you could probally get away with some 35's. where you could be ok with 4.56's but would be better with 4.88's

if its a 2.3, 4.88's would be good. I have 4 56s with my 33s and i have a 4.0 litre, and its just about perfect.

Yo,
Yeah, with as little power as that 2.3 has, I would go 4.88. I am going 5.13 with 35's. If nothing else, all it does is let you to use 5th gear. If you are going to regear, do it once, do it right.

As for brands, Yukon is what I used and is the best.

×3 4.88s are perfect for the little 4-popper turning 33s.
