hey, i am wondering if theres anybody that makes a locker and gearing for the front dana 28 and rear ford 8.8, im not sure if the rear is 28 spline or 31 spline.... by the way the truck is a 2001 ford ranger edge. how hard is the swap to a dana 35 front? and can it be done on this year truck, because its got a 4 inch suspension and 3 inch body lift on 36 super swamper tsls, so im considering upgrading soon to prevent breakage.

lots of info in the tech library on this site. lockers and gears also for sale, used in the for sale forum, new in the parts section of the website (top of the page).
so, yes to most all your questions. all the swap info is in the library. good luck and post up with pics when you do the mods.

you don't have a dana 28 if the truck is a 2001 like you say. you have the dana 35 IFS not the dana 35 (or 28) TTB differential.

In 1998 the Ford Ranger went to a Dana 35 IFS front axle. The Dana 35 IFS switched from a reverse rotation gear to standard rotation gear. The gears in a 1997 and older Ranger/Explorer will not work in the 1998 and newer Rangers.

check out the tech library, tons of great info there.

good luck.

the rear axle should be a 7.5 unless it's got a 4.0 under the hood, if it's 4.0 it'll be a 28 spline 8.8

I think all 4x4s past a certain point have 8.8in rears. nomatter the engine. you can look on your door tag and match it with the tech library article. it is prolly a 28spline 8.8in with 4.10s unless the gears were changed for the lift and tires. please read up on your jawn in the tech library.
