I just mounted, balanced and installed my 35x12.5x15 General Grabber AT 2's on 15x10 Ultra 164's. I'm currently running a 4.0 5-speed OD with 8.8 in the rear and D35 in the front(3.73 gears) with the intention of building an EFI 347 stroker, M5R2 F150 5speed and adapting the electric BW1354 for the time being. Just looking for some opinions on gearing given the present and future mods. Keep in mind this is a daily driver for the time being(20 miles one way to work) and I'm not looking for top fuel consumption numbers but don't want to have to worry about the umff of getting the job done. I was thinking 4.56 or 4.88 but would like some insight. Thanks everyone.

With 35's you should really run 4.88's but then I'm thinking with a V6 too. With a V8 you could get by with 4.56's but I don't know what the first gear or OD ratios are in the F150 tranny either. First gear in a Ranger manual tranny ain't all that low. Too high a gear and OD will be useless. If you're going to change gears anyway I'd say go with the 4.88's.

4.88s should be good, although when i had my 2.9 and 35s with 4.56s it scooted along pretty decent. 5th gear was still useful but not uphill lol. i could do a wicked 1st-2nd gear burnout too with the locked rearend.
