Ok I am thinking of changing out my rear axle in my 98 2.5L manual 2WD truck. I am wanting a limited slip with 4.10 but I not know. I use truck a lot as a daily driver and like to get in the woods when I can.

Is it worth it? I just don't know about gearing and mpg or not knowing what to do. :icon_confused:

The 4.10s will give you more low end and take away from your top speed, as for the limited slip it will do wonders offroad vs an open, as for regearing the rear you already have its gunna be cheaper to just do an 8.8 jy swap and get exactly what your looking for about 200-300 bucks cheaper than modifying your existing rear, and you get the better 8.8 to boot, I personally think its worth it

Yeah was thinking of doing of doing entire junk yard swap, found guy on craigslist with 8.8 rear from ranger 4.10 Open end to end for $440 (told him to much if he couldn't sell it and came down in price to call)

I was thinking of maybe getting 3.73 gears in 8.8 and maybe doing a locker. I have been reading a lot about it but still unsure.

probably have 3.73 or 4.10 allready in the rear. check the axle code on the door sticker. you might be trying to swap in something you've allready got.

I have 3.73

edit: code 86 to be exact
