I see you use the 4x2 for off-road and as a DD. Each has a better gear ratio. You going to run auto or manual? What performace level are you building to? A 3.73 is a good compromise. The more power you have, the higher gear you can run as a DD.

if the cost of a gallon of gas isn't a problem, go to 4.something gear ratio.....

since your going to a tire that is 2" taller, you'll definately need more horses or gears to keep it moving.....

O/D tranny, or just a straight through type, no O/D? That can also affect the gears that you need. For example, I am running 36" Swampers with 4.10 gears, but with a Bulldog 4 speed. I can leave the light in 1st, not Bulldog, and runit with traffic easily. My V8 is a very mildly cammed 302, like, you don't even notice the cam AT ALL, mildly cammed. I have no issues, other than the motor running about 2200 RPMs' on the Interstate.

i think 3.73's will be good.

4.10's are overkill on the street.

im gonna see wha mine will do with the stock 3.45's when i get it running.

but most likely ill end up with 3.73 posi in mine.

I'm running a 3.45 in my 85. I am replacing them with a set of 3.73's as soon as I can. It runs nice down the highway, but I'd like it to feel a little more agressive off the line.
