Gear Ratio for 85 Ranger

Hello All,

I have a question about Gear Ratio in my 85 Ranger. I just put in a 302 v8 engine with a c-6 tranny & I need help with Gear Ratio in my Rear End. Can I keep my Rear End I have now or do I need a different Rear End for my Ranger with a 302 & a c-6 tranny. Right now i know i have low gears & driving the truck the tranny feels it don't shift going up a hill is that common because of having low gear right now. What Rear End do you all reconmend & what Gears should i put in cause I'm just be driving it to carshows & cruises on two lane roads i just want a nice ride & some power from stoplights & taken off out of places.

Report back with what gearing you have and what sice of tires you have.

Your truck shouldn't downshift much, your highest gear is what most overdrive trannies downshift to... since you are already there it won't need to downshift to get there.
