Gear codes question???

Sometimes they have the ratio stamped on them, ex. 4.10. Other times it will just have the number of teeth on the ring gear and pinion. Divide number of ring gear teeth by pinion teeth, ex. 41/10 = 4.10

I found the link in the tech library...

Are these numbers stamped on the ring gear?
I am doing a dana 35 and 8.8 swap. The external tags are illegible and I have no way of knowing what the gears are with out counting the teeth. Any advice??

What is typically stamped on the Ring gear is something slightly more cryptic...

41:11(3.73), 41:10(4.10) 38:11(3.45)

Though some more recent 8.8" ring gears and all more recent 8.8" pinions are a lot more clearly marked with a simple "3.73", "3.55", etc...
