on the dash the fuel gauge dont work the miles dont work. the guy before me put that set of gauges in maybe he left so wires unpluged?

The fuel gauge not working is probably the sending unit in the tank. Ranger's are notorious for sending unit failure. Course before you go pulling the bed off or dropping the tank check to see if the gauge is truly unplugged.
As for the odometer I think it's toast. Check for odometer tampering.

The odometer could be the worm gear that turns off of the speedo control. It is on the back of the speedo cluster and easy to replace.
